Third-party advertising practices

When we manage advertising accounts on behalf of another business, these are the practices we hold ourselves to.

Last updated: September 3, 2026

Account structure

  • Each client gets its own advertiser account on each platform. We do not run multiple clients through a shared account, and we do not blend client budgets.
  • Accounts are established in the client’s name and remain the client’s property. Access transfers with the client if the relationship ends.
  • On request, we provide the account identifiers for any account we operate for a client, promptly and without charge.

Spend and fees

  • What you spend on advertising is paid to the advertising platform. It is not our revenue.
  • Advertising spend is reported exclusive of our management fee. The spend figure in a report is the amount the platform charged.
  • We never mark up media, take an undisclosed rebate on it, or report platform spend inclusive of our fee.

How the fee is expressed

Where we manage advertising on your behalf, our management fee is stated in your written quote as either a fixed monthly amount, or a stated percentage of the advertising spend under management, or both. The pricing page shows how the components combine. The fee is agreed before any campaign runs and does not change without at least 30 days’ written notice.

Where you will see it

WhenWhat is disclosed
Before you buyA written quote stating the management fee, how it is calculated, and what it covers
On every invoiceThe management fee as its own line item, separate from any advertising spend we have arranged
In every reportAdvertising spend reported exclusive of our fee, so the figure you see is the figure the platform charged
On request, at any timeA statement of fees charged over any period, and the advertiser account identifiers for accounts we manage for you

Other compensation we may receive

If we receive any other compensation connected to your account — for example a share of a payment processing fee, or a referral fee from a financing provider — we disclose it to you before you enable that feature, together with the basis on which it is calculated. Where we receive compensation that depends on which provider you choose, we tell you before you choose.

What we do on your behalf

With your authorization we may create and structure campaigns, set and adjust budgets and bids, manage keywords, audiences and placements, assign creative you have approved, and produce reporting. Every action is recorded and attributable to a user.

Some actions cannot be performed through a platform’s API and must be carried out in that platform’s own interface, sometimes by the account owner personally. Where a step requires you — identity checks, license or insurance verification, background checks — we will tell you and cannot complete it for you.

What we do not do

  • We do not guarantee rankings, lead volume, cost per lead, sales or any other result. Advertising outcomes depend on markets, competition, creative, seasonality and platform decisions outside our control.
  • We do not make claims on your behalf that we cannot substantiate, and we will not run creative we believe to be deceptive or non-compliant.
  • We do not lock accounts, withhold data or charge exit fees to keep a client. Data export is available at any time.
  • We do not use one client’s performance data to advantage another client, and we do not share it.

Consumer financing messaging

Where financing offers are presented to a business’s customers, the offers are made by licensed providers. Any advertising of financing terms follows those providers’ approved messaging and applicable credit advertising rules, including the requirement that stating certain terms triggers additional required disclosures.

Compliance with platform policies

We operate within each platform’s terms, API policies and advertising policies. Where a platform’s rules for third parties managing advertising are stricter than the practices on this page, the platform’s rules apply.

Platform names identify systems SMB Tiller builds, or intends to build, integrations for. All trademarks are the property of their respective owners. Their appearance here does not indicate a partnership, endorsement, certification, sponsorship or approval of SMB Tiller by any of them.

Raising a concern

If you believe we have departed from any practice on this page, email navendu@smbtiller.com and we will investigate and respond. If you would rather ask an independent question about how third-party advertising management should work, our guide for advertisers points to the platforms’ own guidance.
